If you spend that kind of money like one does when investing into a laptop, because your desperately wanting to have some time to yourself, you seemed determine to make lemonade with the lemon! It seems as if all I have done since Sunday is just waste precious time trying to make my laptop workable. I attempted to go ahead and download the provided drivers and downgraded to XP using a copy I already have…desperate times call for desperate measures. Everything seemed to be fine except for the BIOS and battery! So again yesterday afternoon I was back on with Sony chat. Mind you since all I have now is a cell phone I didn’t want to be on all that time with our limited amount of minutes. I just hate the fact I am screwed OK! For me that isn’t acceptable and I wanted to somehow make it work. Now this was the hmmm after a year of trouble I lost count how many times I talked to support. I did everything they suggest..each time its the same thing they say start with this…ok did that..then do this…did that too…. yesterday was the final straw! First I am told to take my pencil eraser and clean the battery connectors…OK when I take out the battery I did clean….nothing came off, no discoloration or anything I mean your lucky if this laptop even has 40 hours of run time for heaven sakes! (mind you there are things you already try to do when troubleshooting before resorting to tech support). Then it was the BIOS changes…OK did that… does your PC shut down suddenly? NO it WON’T shut down! (mind you this chat conversation was an hour, I explained all the issues upfront) I was totally losing patience…so the grand solution was reformat to factory install. OMG!!!! Are you kidding me? So basically I told them where to shove it. The gal prior to that said that my particular model of laptop was one of the first models to receive the “vista” when it came out so that right there explains all my problems and suggested running the XP.
This was a birthday present for me last October. Not to mention the amount of money invested into it. Not like that grows on trees you know? I guess I am stubborn I don’t know but hate the fact that nothing can be done. They told me time and again it wasn’t their issue as the manufacturer, but the windows software!
I can’t sell it…I can’t use it….so again I spent 10 hours yesterday, I kid you not reformatting it and updating it….when I put XP in, I did not delete the partition with the reformat software in containing the original files including Vista. Finally at 9:30 last night I shut it off. Today do I waste anymore time?? I don’t know. Trouble really starts when I want to install an anti virus and spyware protection program. I have tried three different brands too.
I am tired of being stuck at my desk. I have no privacy and no time alone. Hubby won’t let me put my computer in our bedroom, he sees this as somehow wanting to be away from him. I just wanted to have something “portable” so I can just go off on my own and have time alone. That was the whole purpose in having the laptop. Time alone! Time to myself. I think this is why I struggled so much in trying to make this lemon work. I needed that outlet more than you will ever know. I mean I can’t even talk on my phone without everyone listening in or my son giving me the third degree when I hang up. Even when I get a text message its who’s texting you. Do you know how much I want to say NONE OF YOUR F’ing BUSINESS???

I’m sorry you got stuck with such a lemon.
Sorry to hear you have had so much trouble with your laptop. It is so pretty & such a shame that it wont work properly.
How much RAM do you have installed in it?
As far as you getting some alone time, you should be able to do this now & then without getting the 3rd degree. That is total BS! You need to stand up for yourself Susan & tell your family that you are going to have some alone time & if they don’t like it, tough!
