Holiday Hearts

You know as I sit here this morning trying to ponder a few things, less us not forget that during this busiest of busy holidays what is important to our hearts.   Each heart may not have the same things that is of importance to it, as we are all different.  But in my heart its, God, family, loved ones, and friends.  It’s amazing as I receive Christmas Cards in the mail from those I have lost touch with through the years, we manage during this important time of year, to remember each other and catch up.  Time goes by much too quickly anymore!!  I received a card from Ellie, she use to be amish, I met her and her hubby when I was like around the age of 8 or 9 where I lived.  I always remember my visits, baking together, then they moved away and I didn’t seem them as much.  Now they are 70 and 72 years old and I just froze as the reality hit me with a tear streaming down my face.  It’s just unimaginable to a child growing up the reality of time later on.   Treasure each moment now, and enjoy the memories later!!

But also I have been thinking that sometimes we lay our hearts out, like a welcome mat, which unfortunately leads to hurt and pain.  I am learning life is short and you have to take each moment, grab it by the horns and hang on while you can.

I am not going to stop being who I am, supportive, helpful and encouraging and willing to lend a helping hand.  But I am going to stop putting my heart out there!  I am not going to be as trusting as I once was, because growing up from a child to an adult that is the one thing that never changed..the trusting and believing in others and one can not continue to walk in today’s world this way.  Time changes everyone!!   Perhaps it just took time a little longer to change my heart!
