Christmas Goodies Can We Say Exhausted!!

December 19, 2006

Well Christmas is fast approaching and have I started making any goodies yet?? hmmm???  Can we say NO!  Being I had surgery and still dealing with a few things I won’t be on my feet as much as usual but have a list of what I will be making.  Here is a list I may add as I am making things:

Buckeyes and Peanut Butter Fudge

Puppy Chow (chex mix)

Peanut  Butter Cookies,  Thumbprint Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, M&M Cookies, Sugar Cookies, Butter Pecan Cookies, Russian Tea Cakes,  Oatmeal with Golden Raisins Cookies, Snickerdoodles, Chocolate Cookies, Spritz Cookies, Pizzelles (Italian Cookies)

Banana Bread, Nut Bread, Blueberry Bread.

Lots of goodies huh?  Think my family likes peanut butter??  My husband loves the buckeyes, and these are just awesome!!  The peanut butter fudge is a tradition every Christmas Eve for me to make!!  Its my dad’s most favorite fudge.  It’s my Grandma’s recipe and its the “OLD Fashioned Way” which is hours on my feet stirring, stirring and following a recipe that ways walnut size butter for example LOL

So in a little bit I am going to make the peanut butter filling for the buckeyes to make them tomorrow night.  Then Thursday its the National Bake Off in my Kitchen.

What do we do with all these cookies, personally I don’t touch em, OMG after making all those cookies I am sick of looking at them. I test the batter and one cookie for each kind to make sure it meets to my standards, and it not right, then yes I scrap and start over.  And it ticks me off.   I dunno what I would do without my Kitchen Aid Mixer either, I mean between that and my Maytag Gemini Stove (two ovens), I be up like I was 8 years ago using a wooden spoon!!  I be up till past midnight and be so exhausted I could not enjoy the holidays I know I torchure myself LOL but I love to bake.

So what I do is buy the pretty gift boxes and line them with wax paper and make up cookie gift packages with a variety of the goodies, throw in some Ande’s mints and deliver them to the neighbors, and our family!

I’ve SO SO jealous of your oven. I am going to get that when the oven goes… hubby and I already talked about it and picked it out LOL but it;s going to be awhile, our stove is only 4 years old *sigh* Maybe I can break it *evil grin*

Got something to say?
