It starts already!

August 31, 2008

You know it is starting already.  Now as of right now I am not working (childcare) anymore.  Its been a whole two flipping weeks and my hubby is already making comments about it just being his income now!  I was looking at the ads today from the Sunday paper and seen some Paula Deen cookware and I need new pans.  It’s only been two years yes since I got my last set but the are all scratched to heck and food is sticking which makes it a huge pain in the butt when I am cooking dinner.  (Keep in mind he cooks every Sunday plus the kids have banged them up too)  I got the one pan from QVC on clearance of a Paula Deen cookware piece (I posted about it a few weeks ago) and I absolutely love it, so of course I love to have a whole set, I mean cooking is a passion for me and if my food sticks, or burns I am not happy with it you know?  Sometimes the food even tastes different.  Well he said to my son (or maybe it was me, we were both sitting at the table) and said “you don’t ever see me looking at ad’s going oooo look at that”  Well you know what kiss it baby, kiss it!  He just frustrates me to no end!!!  I just happen to say I liked it, a whole set on sale and the price is great too, is all.  Sure I love to have a new set of pans, I mean its what I do best, in the kitchen.  But thats ok I will continue to use the same scratched up crappy pans no big deal, but don’t complain if it doesn’t taste as good as usual!!

The worst luck with coffee pots!

August 31, 2008

I just seem to have the worst luck with coffee pots in this house.  I don’t know if its because it’s not a commercial one and I use it more than the average home or what.  For example not only do we make one pot of coffee (some times two) a day, but I also brew tea for Iced Tea in it, and that is another almost daily use.  I don’t see the sense in purchasing a Iced Tea maker when a coffee pot can do the same thing.  But the burner is constantly getting scratched to hell and then my pot sticks.  I think it’s my dad to tell you the truth because of his arthritis and being its heavy for him?  I don’t know.  So I been looking at capresso coffee makers and wondering should I invest the money now or no?  My coffee pot I have now was a limited edition one and its sort of a retro look and I absolutely love it, it even has a back light at night.  My hubby gets really funky when I have to replace things and he doesn’t understand I think the coffee pot gets a lot of wear and tear out of it with the extra brewing of Teas.  If it didn’t get scratched up then I wouldn’t need to replace it.  I don’t know what else to do!  Either they leak or the burner gives out!  Sometimes going the cheaper route isn’t always what is best, you get what you pay for.  BUT (that dreaded but) with my dad’s arthritis, do we really want to spend that kind of money?  I wish they could make a burner that is scratch resistant!!

Who wants to go with me?

August 31, 2008

Who wants to get the heck away from the every day stresses of life?  If I could find a emoticon that was huge with it raising its hand and waving and saying “over here, over here”, I post it right now in this post.  My hubby, well we were discussing taking a cruise, like where we would want to go, of course he doesn’t want to take any Mediterranean cruises, which is what I would like to take because its always been a dream of mine to go to Italy.  He refuses to fly, and we would have to fly to the city where the ship would be deporting from and he just won’t even consider it, later on in life!  Well news flash, I am so going to visit Italy one day so who wants to go with me?  Ever since 9-11 happened my hubby just refuses to even consider things and you know, in my opinion that makes the terrorists the winners and that just erks me!

Oh would I love to have that!

I got a mini catalog from my sister in law today who sells Longaberger and it has special just for the month of September.  Let me tell you I wish I knew enough people around where I live to host a part this month.  They have some awesome tv furniture made out of wrought iron with wood craft shelves and lots of space for baskets to store things!!  Wrought iron would last forever!!  I would have to host a $500 or more to be able to purchase as my half price selection, the full retail price is $750.  (Can you hear my hubby coughing?)  But its just gorgeous!!!  Well I know its not something I will ever get but doesn’t hurt to dream right?

Huh? What? Come again?

August 30, 2008

My son is a trip, I mean when it comes to some things he just doesn’t have a clue sometimes.  For example my hubby surfs the web a lot on his laptop (that reminds me I need to clean up his computer, he never cleans his temporary Internet files or anything) and he is always logging into his profit sharing area to see how he is doing. He was doing a search on futures broker and my son thought it was a site for employment as he said to my hubby are you looking to get a new job in the future?  My hubby looked puzzled for a moment and said huh?  What?  My son has this huge bad habit of “ease” reading when anyone is on the computer.  I wonder maybe next week I will do it to him during his classes online when he is trying to do his school work and see if he likes it!  Can we tell it’s late and I lost all my patience for the day?

Good news Bad news….

August 29, 2008

I had sent an email to those I knew have been waiting to here about my results before I started on dinner.  I got good news but some bad news today….

Good news is my CT Angiogram came back with positive results.  No aneurysms!!  Woo Hoo that so took a load off me, as I was so scared when they did the MRI/MRA and said something questionable was showing up, and waited and waited so long for the results!  Definitely Migraines!!  Because of my health issues and blood pressure being on the lower end of things, I am not a candidate for the migraine medication to prevent them from even coming.  So I am on the treat as I go plan!

He wanted to put me on a medication that is new called Treximet (linked so you can check it out), because it also included an antiflamitory medication with the migrane medication.  He wrote the prescription for 9 pills.  I have to go back in 6 months, sooner if I feel I need too.

So I headed to Drug Mart to fill my prescription, after waiting a long time, one of the gals said my insurance won’t cover it and it costs $210.40.  I said OMG for 9 pills are you kidding me?  They said no, they had some sort of coupon they were trying to use and it would not work either.  I sent a text to hubby and didn’t hear back because I was just besides myself, so I called my neurologist back and told the girl how much it was and my insurance will not cover it.  She said she would see if he would phone in Imitrex for me instead which most insurance companies will cover.  I left to go run and errand and went back.

Our insurance covers the Imitrex, BUT…oh yeah there is a BUT.. only 9 pills a month!  I paid $30.00, but if i have more than 4 or 5 migraines I am in trouble, because I can get a  second refill for the month  but I will have to pay for the full amount out of pocket which they said to me is $210.00! These are 100 mg and the pharmacist said to take one wait two hours can take one more, but no more than two in a 24 hour period.

I told the pharmacist, well if I have more than that many migraines in a month, it would be cheaper for me to go to the E.R. and pay my copay and get the happy juice they put in the I.V. then to refill this w/o help from insurance, he said up!  Tell me what sense does that make?

I keep a log of my migraines and I average about 8 a month, sometimes more, sometimes one or two less.  I will have to just pray and pray hard that I don’t have more than that.  I am going to work very hard on my stress levels…..

The pharmacist recommended if I had any of the Imitrex left at the end of the month to still refill my prescription so that way I can “extras on hand” and maybe get over that hump.

I am nervous about taking a new medication and have heard from some it didn’t work for them.  So I hope this works because the other choice the new drug isn’t gonna happen too soon at that price!!

Dad is cursing up a storm!

August 29, 2008

My dad just cracks me up!  You know here in the house he just eats where he wants, drops crumbs on the floor all the time and never thinks twice about it.  Totally drives me insane!!  But when it comes to his car, look out!  He just washed his car this morning, now let me tell you its been cloudy all day, so you know its going to end up raining!  Well he went to the mall this afternoon like he always does and when he came home I could hear him in the drive cursing up a storm, because the birds got his car!  I swear it looks as if it was a machine gun that is how many splatters is on it and its a black car. LOL  All I do is laugh because I so want to say to him how does it feel to clean something and someone just drops crap on it!  He said well I was at the auto part store looking at car covers and I am going to buy one and I said to him oh are you going to take to the mall with you too?  He just gave me the look!!  I still think its funny!!!

Reminds me of vintage clothing

August 29, 2008

When I was at the doctors office today, while waiting for my appointment I was flipping though some magazines.  I was looking through a horses magazine and the equestrian clothing reminds me of vintage clothing.  The pants reminds me of bloomers from back in the day.  I had seen some vintage art pieces down in Amish country when hubby and I were down there in June for our 10th Wedding Anniversary, and they were beautiful.  I wonder if ever a day will come where perhaps this may become a fashion statement?  I wonder if bloomers will come back?  Could you imagine running around in bloomers?  Actually bloomers remind me of the old football pants from way back when too!!
